The low art of celebrity profiles Steve Johnson writes about a half-fake bio of REM's lead singer, Michael Stipe, that appeared in Esquire. He writes how celebrity bios have become so braindead, that you might as well make them up anyway. Here is the Johnson piece, and you can check out the Esquire bio in question here.
